Our Dance Studio provides recreational classes for all ages of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The young adult classes are for these students only, while our younger (child) students are in the general classes. Our classes are one hour a week and are for tap and jazz. We also have an advanced class that covers hip hop. I have been teaching these classes in my studio for 9 years and enjoy the personal relationships that I have made with each and every one of my students. They bring me so much joy every week and love teaching these classes. The students that I have had for a number of years have grown so much which is why we now offer the advanced classes for those that really enjoy dancing and want to learn even more. My assistant for the class is not only a dance teacher but has also been a one-on-one caregiver for many years.
Experience with the Disabilities Community:
I have taught these class for 9 years in my studio. I also like to support my students and have participated in the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome, and The Gathering. Some of my students also work in the community, at McDonald’s and Beau’s coffee; and I love to visit them and work and show them my love support.
